Postcards for Democracy: April 2026:: Community Volunteers Write 550 Postcards to Voters
On April 4, 2026, the NAACP Media Area Branch partnered with the Center for Common Ground to host a postcard-writing event at Media Fellowship House. More than 28 volunteers came together to write 550 postcards encouraging Black voters in Virginia to participate in an important special election.
Volunteers represented a diverse coalition of community organizations and institutions, including the NAACP Media Area Branch, the Cheyney University NAACP Chapter, Cheyney University students representing the Divine Nine, and members of Alpha Delta Mu Omega Chapter, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, serving Eastern Delaware County, Pennsylvania. Community members and local students also joined the effort, demonstrating a shared commitment to civic engagement and voter participation.
In just two hours, volunteers filled the room with energy, conversation, and purpose while helping ensure voters received trusted information about the upcoming election. The event showcased the power of collaboration across generations, organizations, and communities working together to strengthen our democracy.
The NAACP Media Area Branch is grateful to all who participated and helped make the event a success. Through grassroots outreach efforts like this one, we continue our commitment to protecting voting rights, increasing civic participation, and empowering communities to make their voices heard at the ballot box.
