Throughout Women’s History Month, the NAACP Media Area Branch proudly highlighted the women who lead, build, advocate, and serve in our community and beyond.
This year’s spotlight series honored both historic trailblazers and contemporary leaders whose work continues to shape policy, strengthen families, expand opportunity, and advance equity.
We recognized the enduring legacy of national icons including:
- Shirley Chisholm
- Fannie Lou Hamer
- Ida B. Wells
- Mary McLeod Bethune
We also celebrated women in public service serving Pennsylvania and Delaware County, including:
- Rep. Gina Curry
- Rep. Jennifer O’Mara
- Speaker Joanna McClinton
In addition, we proudly highlighted Kayla Cocci — community advocate, co-founder, and youth leader — whose work continues to invest in connection and opportunity locally. We also honored the Women of the NAACP Media Area Branch, whose leadership, service, and commitment power our mission every day.
Through our “Her Voice” community questions, Women & Wellness Wednesday series, and Women in Public Service features, we invited reflection, dialogue, and recognition of the many ways women continue to build here.
Women’s History Month is not only about honoring the past — it is about affirming the present and investing in the future.
She builds here.
